I was Just Thinking…
Have you ever had the thought where you wondered, what is the meaning of this? Like so many of us, you found yourself in a moment that you didn’t sign up for, only to look for the escape hatch. You know that this thing wasn’t in your plan when you started out on your day. Yet here it is. It demands your attention because it has refused to leave until you address it.
It could be a situation in your marriage, a issue on your job, a child who refuses to submit to your direction, or even an illness that has made a home in your being. Whatever it is, it screams for attention. Realize how you respond, is important to your recovery. Rather than pray, that it goes away, have you prayed for the strength to stand up under the pressure of it?
In the life of Apostle Paul, we read in 2 Corinthians of an account in which Paul has begged of God to remove a situation which had become an annoyance to him. So much so that he asked three times for the removal of it. At every request he heard the same thing “My grace is all you need. My power works best in your weakness.” Christ had told him, I am all you need in this moment, nothing else is necessary other than your agreement to what I have said. To which Paul says “I am now glad to boost about my weakness, so that the power of Christ can work through me. He realized that the moment he agreed to what Christ said about the situation. He, Paul became able to endure, rather than avoid the very thing that was once a hindrance, now become the help. The help to teach him something he didn’t already know. To know that God’s grace is sufficient and in his weakness Christ strength is made perfect.
It is my prayer that rather than pray for the avoidance of some things we pray for the endurance. For it’s in the endurance of difficult moments that Christ is Glorified, and patience is developed in the believer, not in the avoidance of those trying, difficult, challenging, life altering moments.
Not a sermon, just something I was thinking about.
